The Vompatti christmas party tour 2001
A year to remember. That was 2001. Many thought Beyond 2001 was gone with the wind. Many thought Vompatti was gone with the radioactive fallout. While B5 is busy compiling the next (as usual) Tavo, Vompatti is about to land next to a recorder, after its most active tour.
Never before has the band toured so much – hell, they played like little marsupials! In Western Siberia it’s harder & harder to find folks not having felt the stare of angry wombat on their backs. Haven’t met Vompatti? We are very sorry.
With a new frontgirl, Mariann F, Vompatti’s tour included two gigs. The tour started 30.11. from the foxy island of Reposaari and le grande finale was in capital Helsinki 12.12. This christmas party tour was also historical in that sense, that for the first time the same singer stayed in the band from one gig to another.
Another new member of Vompatti invastructure is soundman Myller (from Elävä Ahjo). Vompatti also performs several Elävä Ahjo-songs.
Gigs started with band members enjoying their trademark, “shining stage charisma” (the can front of Karwin above). In Helsinki Karwin’s stage energy in V ydinvoimala (Nukeplant 5) was so furious, that all wires & straps of his instrument were lost. Nobody noticed though, that the drummer was suddenly dropped out. A special guest in this tour was Santa Laden, wearing a turban and black beard.
Now that Vompatti has conquered its homecountry capital, the next destination is Zululand? Anyway, after this success Vomp’s first frontgirl Sanne resigned herself in as band’s new producer, and the band also has a far-out-member, saxaphone player Negatius, scheduled to perform from Dresden via cellphone.
