Policies of Astronomy Forum
These policies will be adhered to by all members of Astronomy Forum
 
ALL prospective members MUST leave a message stating why they want to join.
On the application, there is a box for that labeled "Message to Manager".
 
Managers
1)  Only Managers shall have the responsibility of approving, disapproving, warning, or banning members.
2)  Managers may edit or delete text on any message board if it is offensive, abusive or contrary to any policy of Astronomy Forum. 
3) Managers may delete duplicated or unintentional posts, or move posts on any site to reduce redundancy, clutter, and correct mistakes.
 
New Assistant Managers
All members promoted to Assistant Manager will be on probation for one month.  During that time they will be evaluated and assisted.  During that time they may be returned to the rank of Member for cause.  They may also be returned to the rank of Member for reasons relating to management and staffing requirements without censure.
 
Members
1) All members will maintain a current email address in their profile.  If the manager attempts to contact a member and cannot find a valid email address to send a message to, the member will be banned.
2) Any member may post messages to any message board.  The message should be relevant to that board.
3) Any member may add photos to photo albums and start their own photo album.
4) Any member may email any manager to ask questions or get assistance.  Please do not use the message boards for this purpose.
5) All members are encouraged to email the managers if they find a post that they feel is objectionable, rude, abusive, or contrary to Astronomy Forum Policy, rather than objecting on the message board itself.
6) Any member may post a link to another web site (not forum) only if the material contained therein is relevant to an ongoing discussion and only after determining that there is no other material at that site that would be contrary to any policy of Astronomy Forum.  If in doubt, ask a manager first.
 
Spamming
1) No member shall post any SPAM messages or links as is defined by the common use of the term.  That includes advertisements, scams, recruitment, or political or religious messages.
2) Any message which is posted to numerous sites by one person or group is SPAM.
3) No member shall post a link to any site for the purpose of recruiting new members to that site without the express permission of the Manager.
 
Legal
No member shall post any message, photo, drawing, or other artifact that:
1) -is inflammatory, derogatory, lewd, or otherwise obviously objectionable.
2) -infringes on the rights of others.
3) -is commercial in nature or intended to use Astronomy Forum for personal gain in any manner.
 
Courtesy
This is a community of men, women and children.  Members are expected to conduct themselves accordingly.
There will be no name-calling, badgering, harassing or belittling of others.
Profanity will not be tolerated, not even if it is disguised, altered or mispelled.  No exceptions.
Please do not post in Script (Lucida Handwriting ) font, it is difficult for most people to read.
When in doubt, be courteous.
This is a grand adventure, let's all enjoy it.
