The markets have two sessions. When looking at a period of focussed aspects you have to bear in mind that the sessions will be closing and starting. That's why there are straight lines. But the real question to ask is, what is happening to the world markets between 4pm in New York and 8pm in New York. Nothing. Well actually I lie, the New Zealand Stock Market (NZSE) does start trading at 5:30pm New York time. Anyway, the Sun is moving over the rest of the United States, which is all governed from the East Coast (totally rediculous), and then we have the massive Pacific Ocean. Just think of the number of aspects that we are missing everyday! We have a similar problem when the Asians are closing, and the Europeans are about to open. See European markets. There are the electronic platforms such as Instinet and Globex. But note how increasingly the US corporations (especially the tech ones) are using the out of hours trading to make announcements. Think about the control they have over their own holdings. But it does not matter, because the aspects are there, thank God. So what do you do in this hiatus between New York and Tokyo? What I usually do I just watch the dollar yen.
