Science fiction authors are remarkably accessible. Many of them have web sites and publicly available email addresses; others reply to letters sent to them care of their publishers. Below is a list of author-run websites and websites administered by fans with the authors’ permission. I do not encourage class projects in which every student writes to an author or two, but authors almost always have time to respond to students or teachers who have genuine comments about their stories or about how their stories have been used in the classroom:
David Brin http://www.kithrup.com/brin/ (note – this site contains links to several Brin stories)
Greg Bear http://www.gregbear.com/
Greg Egan http://www.netspace.net.au/~gregegan/index.html (contains lots of good science material, particularly on relativity and quantum physics.
Larry Niven http://www.larryniven.org/frameset.htm (not run by Niven but contains stories and letters by Niven with his permission)
