| An Idea From the Edge embraces the very essence of "anything goes" ... but there are certain guaranteed ways to get your message deleted and membership banned. They are listed below in no particular order, but we take them seriously here, so read them and remember them. 1.) Advertising! Advertisements will not be tolerated on this site, period. If you joined to advertise, your message will be deleted and your membership banned. No exceptions! 1a.) If you join this group and your name or email address has sex in the title, we will ban you. We are tired of waiting for the spam, and then banning. We don't have time to police this board this much. We don't care if you don't think it's fair. Discuss. 1b.) Copying posts that were not written by you from another board and posting them here is spam if it is a more than one time occurance. One time is a "look what this guy said", but two times is an advertisement for that group. Don't do that. 2.) Small Talk! Small talk makes us want to gouge our eyes out. Make no mistake about it though, we'd much rather gouge out your eyes if you perpetuate this plague of stupidity. We understand that maybe people don't always want to carry on heavy philosophical discussions and just want to have a pleasant chat about the weather. That's fine, but don't even think about doing it here. For further clarification on just what constitutes Small Talk, read our board definition: Definition of Small Talk 3.) Online Wars! If you joined this board for the express purpose of carrying on a flame-war that got you banned from another site, you'll get banned here too. So don't bother wasting your time--just go find an AOL chat room and work it out like the child you are. 4.) Barrage Posting! While your issues are very important, and certainly the weight of the world rests on how people understand your viewpoint, monopolizing the board with multiple strings of discussion on the same subject within a week's time is not allowed. We have to allow those other silly members to have the floor every once in a while to appease them. You know how they are. 5.) Thin Skin! The management of this board does not have time to deal with your hurt feelings or your offense at someone's opinion or way of expressing said opinion. Whining about something someone posted to you or distracting the flow of a string to address something you took personally doesn't go over here. This is just an internet discussion board. You are not in a relationship with this board. Your baggage is yours and yours alone. 5a.) Pestering the Managers to ban someone because you don't like them, they offend you, or your feelings are hurt may well get yourself banned if you catch them in a bad mood. So don't bother. Maybe you should read the warning before you carry that one on much further. And, finally, you will not be banned for attempting to END STRING or end a debate by typing something like "End String" or "Drop It" or even "Shut Up" but you will be ignored. A string ends here when people stop posting and have nothing else to say on the subject - and strings may be picked back up years after they start. You have no ultimate power to stop a discussion you are uncomfortable with in here. Don't bother. If you have nothing left to say, stop posting. The last word is not that important to you, is it?
