Preface
In putting together this work I have tried to verify the information as much as possible. This would include census records; 1810, 1816, 1820, 1830, 1840, 1850, 1853 index, 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900, 1910, and 1920. Amite school census 1851-1864, slave schedules, land records, marriage certificates, marriage books, marriage CD's, delayed birth certificates, birth records, death certificates, division of property, church records, cemetery notes/photos, obituaries, social security death index/applications, conveyance records, letters, pension/service records, WWI draft registration index/application cards, family bibles, court records, driver license information, retirement tape-Allen Washington Duck.
As I approached the late 1800's and early 1900's I could no longer afford to order complete documentation on everyone. In a project this large there will be errors and typos. You should only use this book as one reference for your own research. Please mail corrections to me and I will update this work. Some of this information has come from other researchers and family members. Any error you may find in their information is possibly incorrect data entry on my part. Every effort was made to verify with sources available any information given to me.
Thank you to the many family members that sent me their information.
