Infertility Medications

 

 

Baby Aspirin      Low dose aspirin is used to increase bloodflow to the uterus in infertility.

Bromocriptine  (Parlodel)    A medication used to reduce prolactin levels,This medication is usually taken orally but it does have side effects and your dr may advise that it be inserted into the vagina,If affected by the side effects.

Buserelin             Nasal spray used for several reasons in infertility,It is used to create  pseudomenopause  reducing the size and number of endometriotic lesions,Also used for fibroid tumors,PMS,Ovulation induction for IVF. 

Danazol  (Danocrine)    Used to treat Endometriosis,This is a synthetic Androgen.

Diethylstilbestrol (DES)          This drug was used to prevent miscarriages,However it was banned in 1971 due to severe consequences to the born child who then went on to have children with ,Deformaties,Unexplained infertility,Miscarriages,Researchers are now looking into grandchildren who,s parents were exposed to this drug.

Fertinex     Fertility drug injected used for ovulation

Follistim     Recombinant FSH injectable fertility medication used for superovulation

Gonal F     FSH injectable fertility medication used for super ovulation  

Heparin    Blood thining drug,used to prevent clots,Given by injection

Lupron     Another fertility used Injected medication used to down regulate a womans cycle,This stops the release of LH & FSH,which will Then stops the release of follicles.

Methotrexate   Toxic anticancer drug,Sometimes used to treat ectopic or molar pregnancies.

Metrodin  (pure FSH)    Injectable fertility drug used to stimulate Ovulation.

Paternal Leukocyte Immunization (PLI) -- Injecting a woman with her husband's (or male partner's) white blood cells to increase her fetal blocking antibodies and lower her NK cells.

Pergonal (hMG) -- A medication used to replace the pituitary hormones LH and FSH. Similar to Humegon and Repronex. May be used to induce ovulation in women who do not respond to clomiphene citrate. Most frequently used with women who do not normally produce.

Pregnyl -- Injectable hCG

Profasi -- Injectable hCG.

Progestin -- A synthetic progesterone (Provera).

Recombinant (Human) Follicle Stimulating Hormone (R-FSH, R-hFSH) -- Genetically engineered follicle stimulating hormone as opposed to FSH extracted from the urine of post menopausal women. It is synthesized in vitro by cells into which genes encoding for

Synarel -- A synthetic hormone used to treat endometriosis or for regulation before or during a controlled ovarian hyperstimulation cylce.

Tocolytic -- A drug used to relax uterine contractions and to try to stop premature labor.
