This is not the series that we Americans know. This movie was released as a final chapter to the Yamato Story. The title "Saraba" means Farewell. Due to fan response in Japan, the story was later fleshed out into a 26 episode series, in which the Yamato does not Perish. It is the later series that we know as Star Blazers Season Two: The War with the White Comet
