I'm am attempting to start a small assistive technology business. I have a technology background (currently a systems engineerin a B-B technology firm) and a degree in special education. I've seen so many inappropriate facilitations in the school environment that I'd like to try my hand at building "appropriate solutions" for schools and individuals. Update:  I'm almost done with my EdD in Instructional technology and Distance Education.  I'm still looking forward to working in AT.  Contact:  fmonroe@earthlink.net

I am a Parent of a 11 yr old Angelman Syndrome Child and I am looking for any adaptive (hands on) communicative devices that might help her progress in her learning ability.  She has a strong receptive language and minimual expressive language.  She has been using switches in school but I am looking for something for home so that she can continue to learn at home too.  If you have any suggestion or comments, please contact me.

I am the Information & Referral Director for Attain - an Indiana nonprofit serving people with disabilities.  We focus on helping people of all ages and all types of disabilites access assistive devices (adaptive equipment, assistive technology, DME) through direct services, information & referral, advocacy and training.

Although we are mainly concerned with disabled Hoosiers, one of our programs that is available to anyone is our Equipment Exchange.  Because of the high cost of assistive technologies, the Equipment Exchange helps link consumers who have equipment they no longer need with those who need it and may otherwise not be able to afford it.  More information is on our website - www.attaininc.org  This is a free service that we offer.  Contact me with any questions.

Hi There! I work as an Assistive Technology Advisor with an pediatric habilitation unit here in Rogaland, Norway. I'm also an Social Educator of profession. I join this group for the purpose to learn more about how to serve the kids that come to me more effectively. For the moment I'm particularly interested in learning about software and games appropriate for kids to control with switches. I serve on my county's (Rogaland) Assistive Technology Team and I'm interested in hearing from others who help decide the technology plan with their students and families.

i'm 35 yrs old, and have had severe pain in my right arm for about 2 years.  it limits my ability to do anything and everything: from combing my hair, to laundry, to typing, to carpentry.  after seeing about 16 different doctors, PTs, OTs, and chiropractors, it was finally discovered that i have an anomalous growth of muscle tissue where i should have tendon.  this anomalous muscle is lying across the ulnar nerve in my right elbow, and causing the pain.  i will undergo transposition surgery on the nerve in a few days.  i am interested in learning more about assistive technologies that might help me during my recovery and beyond.  i write for a living, so must learn to type with my left hand only.  i await the arrival of a new half-qwerty keyboard, and wonder if anyone here has used one?

I'm a 19 year old college student and have a couple learning and physical disabilaties. I get assistance from Santa Barbara City College's Disabled Student Programs and Services and the department of rehabilatation. I am very involved as a 4-H leader (not animal projects). I am very interested in purchasing a Kurzweil 3000 program for myself and was wondering if any one new of where I could do this and where would be the most inexpensive place.
