Minority AIDS Project - As the first community-based HIV/AIDS organization in the U.S. established and managed by people of color, MAP was founded in 1985 by Unity Fellowship Church in Los Angeles.
AMASSI Center of Los Angeles - AMASSI (African-American AIDS, Support-Services and Survival Institute) was created in 1993 to reduce institutional barriers in mainstream human services and educational programs resulting from a lack of culturally sensitive and affirming messages, access and care.
Antioch Baptist Church of Cleveland - Agape program offers church-based center for HIV testing, prevention, and referral. Collaborative program between church and Cleveland Clinic Foundation, AIDS Task Force of Greater Cleveland, American Red Cross, and Bristol-Myers Squibb and Agouron Pharmaceuticals.
AIDS Project Los Angeles - APLA provides AIDS information, education, counseling, workplace programs, hotline, and substance abuse treatment for African Americans.
Ark of Refuge AIDS Ministry - Technical assistance information and links to assist faith-based communities in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
State of Emergency Preaching Institute - SOEPI informs and equips pastors and other faith-based leaders who serve in and/or lead African American congregations that include persons at risk of HIV/AIDS. The institute incorporates dynamic preaching with interactive workshops, pastoral and congregational needs assessment, model sermons, preaching practicum,Facilitated panel discussions with PLWAs, capacity building and technical assistance services, and community service projects.
Bay Area Black Consortium for Quality Health Care - The African-American AIDS Coalition of Alameda County advocates for AIDS education, prevention, and treatment for the black community; provides medical case management and support services to people with HIV/AIDS, including HIV testing and counseling; and conducts street outreach and peer education for at-risk women.
The Balm In Gilead - A national, non-profit organization that works through Black churches to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS in the African American community and to supportthose infected with, and affected by, HIV/AIDS. It is the only AIDS service organization endorsed by all major historically Black church denominations and caucuses.
The Black Church HIV/AIDS National Technical Assistance Center - The nation's only HIV/AIDS technical assistance center designed specifically to serve Black churches as well as public agencies and community-based organizations that wish to work with Black churches on AIDS issues.
BEBASHI - Organized in 1985, BEBASHI (Blacks Educating Blacks About Sexual Health Issues) provides culturally sensitive health and prevention information, education, direct services and advocacy to African American communities in Philadelphia.
Congress of National Black Churches - An ecumenical coalition of 8 major historically Black denominations that represent 65,000 churches and a membership of more than 20 million people.
CNBC National Health Program - Disease prevention and health promotion are key program priorities. The overall goal is to actively engage churches in a holistic response to the disproportionate burden of ill health and premature death in the African American community. Health initiatives include: assessing and evaluating health practices in local congregations, providing training and educational materials on health promotion and disease prevention; collaborating with local health agencies; and targeting the seven leading causes of death among African Americans for policy and programmatic activity.
Glide-Goodlett HIV/AIDS Project - Working the streets of the Tenderloin and other poor, high-risk communities in San Francisco, this organization brings prevention, education, testingand comprehensive support services where they are least available yet most desperately needed.
Metropolitan Interdenominational Church - This TN church reaches out to IDUs in four poor, predominantly African-American neighborhoods. The church's AIDS program program provides sterile needles, condoms, case management, prevention education, housing, and a harm reduction program model for use in other faith communities.
National Minority AIDS Council - The premier national organization dedicated to developing leadership within communities of color to address the challenge of HIV/AIDS.
Black Church Initiative - Encourages and assists African American clergy and laity in addressing teen childbearing, sexuality education, unintended pregnancies, and other reproductive health issues within the context of African American culture and religion. The program sponsors a number of national and regional Black Religious Summits on Sexuality.
American Red Cross African American HIV/AIDS Program - Distributes outreach materials, including African proverb posters, PSAs, and the "Don't Forget Sherrie" kit for youth groups.
